North Platte is a city in the county seat of Lincoln County, Nebraska. It is located in the west-central part of the state, at the intersection of Interstate 80 and US Highway 83 and at the confluence of the North and South Platte Rivers forming the Platte River. With a population of 23,390 in 2023, it has a service area of over 180 miles. The community also has a strong western heritage as it is the home of world-famous cowboy Willian F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody and host of the statewide celebration NEBRASKAland Days every year. It is also home to the world’s largest railroad classification yard, Union Pacific’s Bailey Yard.
